State Fair (part 3)

While Ma was looking at all the photography,

Orion watches a group calles "The Cloggers"

Orion was really intrigued with their dancing.

They had taps on their shoes, and did good footwork.

Afterward, Orion went to tell the leader of the group

what a good job they did, and that he enjoyed it.

It was a surprise that Orion knew someone who

was in the Clogging group.  It was

one of the summerschool teachers from this past summer

that worked with Orion.

Orion also ran into another person he recognized.

It is Mrs Jenkins, who is his current health teacher

at Cleveland Middle School.

Mrs Jenkins is the lady wearing pink.

The lady next to her is probably her daughter.

State Fair (part 4)

This is suupposed to be an outlaw wanted poster.

This is the ladies side.

There was an exhibit where displayed

were only children's art work from

schools around the area,

 including home schooled kids.

Orion got to make a drawing that

they were hanging on the windows of this

exhibit.

It was a patterned design, and you filled in the rest.

Instead of a sand box, this is a corn box.

Can you imagine this much corn kernels?

Orion really wanted to try out the shooting gallery.

Orion's target was on the right side.  There were eight targets.

Orion shot four of the eight with his twelve shots.

A highlight of this exhibit is meeting Smokey the Bear.

Orion loves Smokey the Bear.

Going to the New Mexico State Fair was fun.

 

 

State Fair (part 2)

One event we went to is one of our favorites for kids.

This is sponcered by McDonald's

The kids to into the gate, and get a basket,

and then go on a scavenger hunt for things on the list.

They have to pretend that they are spending a day on a farm.

The first thing to do is get an apple for the basket.

Orion got to sit on a huge tractor

to experience what a farmer in the fields feels like.

Next, Orion had to gather the eggs

from the chicken coop

 

Orion got to pretend that he was milking a cow.

Orion got his try at a hand of lasso.

He had a very hard time with this one.

He had to try about 10 tries before he caught the bull.

 

Then Orion had to go tend to his garden

with carrots, tomatoes, bell peppers,

and hot peppers, and add them to his basket.

Orion go to feel real sheep's hair before it is woven into wool.

This was a fun visit to the farm.

 

 

 

 

2012 STATE FAIR (PART 1)

The first thing we saw when we went to the

New Mexico State Fair this year are the

old cars.

This vehicle that Ma is posing in front of was

a 1958 model.  It was a vehicle that many

people drove when she was 2 years old.

This model is a 1955.  Ma was born one year later.

Ma wanted to stand in front of a car that was

in an era when she was a baby.

This was also a 1955

This car was a 1949 model.  Pa was born the

following year in 1950.

Pa said that the first car he owned was this model,

except it was

not a station wagon.

Ma thinks this was something like a 1942 model truck.

We took a photo of it because of what is on the window.

This was the first type of air conditioning made.

It is a fan that is hooked up on the window,

and the wind from the moving vehicle comes through

the fan and inside the window.

We can see why the city of Chicago burned down.

This truck is so small compared to what we see today.

Orion got a huge kick out of this old style

AirStream camper.

The owner got it from a junk yard,

and remodeled and updated it.

This is part of what it looked like inside.

It is equiped with a TV, oven, refridgerator,

microwave oven, toilet, and it has a

curved sofa opposite this view.

Ma's visit to Salt Lake (part 2)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

It has been five years since Ma was able to

see these grandkids.  It has been three years since Ma

has seen her daughter Aubri as well.

Gavin is nine, and Keilani is six years old.

They did not really know Ma.

It was a great time for Ma though,

because this is the most time she

has spent with them for a while.

spent time with Gavin and Keilani

on four different days.

This was a special treat.
