After that he advances to 1st class and 2nd class. The troup
is required to do acheive different skills and pass them off.
One of the requirements is to go camping three times in the year.
On March 9-10 (Friday night and Saturday morning) the troup went
on their first campout for the year. It was in the mountains, and was
very cold. Orion wore long johns under his clothes. Pa also went with him
It was quite an adventure because Orion has never been camping when it
has been so cold. It maintained in the 20's the entire camping and snowed
a couple of inches as well. Many of the boys stayed by the fire. Pa brought
a heater and some of the boys stayed by it too until they got warmed up.
The boys were also in charge of planning, buying and making the meals.
The first night was a tin foil dinner made and brought from home.
The next morning, the older boys made breakfast burritos. Orion's troup
was in charge of lunch. Everyone forgot to bring a camera, but Pa remembered
he had his IPad in the truck. Thanks to Pa for the following photos:
One of the activities was rope tying.
Sharon Berget is teaching Orion one of the knots.
Orion tries to tie the knot that was shown to him.
This is the final knot and what it was supposed to look like.
Sharon's husband had another activity for the boys to do.
It was driving a tracktor and shoveling dirt.
This was only for experience, and fun.
Orion in the driver's seat.
This would be kind of scarey if it was headed
toward you.

Orion was not afraid of driving and
using the shovel
These are all the scouts that went.
They all had a lot of fun.
