Tonight, April 3, 2012 was the first of three nights.
It was fun. The instructor is John Berger, and John
is a professional artist. He does wood carvings etc for profit.
The first project John Berger gave the boys
was to make a comic strip. They had to make up their own.
They had to make nine squares, and each square
had to tell the story from beginning to end.
This is Orion first making a scratch sketching,
and then he is supposed to make
the final drawings on this larger paper
Then the second project tonight was
to design a logo. John Berger said that it could
be anything you choose. He showed some
examples of business logos,
and he showed a personal logo with his initials.
Orion designed this one with his initials on it.
He definitely needed a yellow shirt.
Yellow is Orion's favorite color.
Ma did not attend the class with Orion, but she was able to
peek in enough to see what was going on.
This time, John Berger gave the boys
a project to draw, and then paint.
The class at work.
John Berger gave the boys an easy form to draw.
It consisted of rectangles, circle, and cone shapes.
He was teaching about modeling and drawing
from what we already see. Then they got to paint
the picture.
The third week Orion went to a couple of places
on a field trip. One was to John Berger's shop,
where he works as an artist carving wood, and the other place was
to a taxidermist.
Orion's certificate of completion.
Good Job Orion!!
